PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri S&T's Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard) recorded his highest finish of his career at an NCAA Division II championship meet and also broke the school record in the shot put as he took sixth place in that event at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at Pittsburg State University.

Swadley broke his own school record, which he had set at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships two weeks ago, with a mark of 59-1¼ in the fourth round of throws to earn his sixth place finish and become the first Miner since 2016 to earn All-America honors in track & field.  He is also the first S&T competitor ever to earn All-America status in an indoor throwing event and earned the 21st indoor All-America award in program history.

Swadley had a throw of 57-0¼ on his first attempt, then recorded his best mark in the second round of throws of 58-4 to take the lead in the competition.  That performance was the best among those in the first flight through the first three throws.

Following the second flight, Swadley was in sixth place heading into the finals, then uncorked his school record throw in the first round of the finals.  The mark held up for the sixth place finish as he passed Alabama Huntsville's Zach Hancock but was also passed in the fourth round by eventual runner-up Nathaniel Miller from Colorado State-Pueblo.

Davenport's Isaiah Schafer won the competition on his first throw of the day as he posted a mark of 62-4.
