Miners open GLVC play at Southwest Baptist and 7th-ranked Drury

ROLLA, Mo. - The Missouri S&T women's basketball team will begin a three-game road stretch to open its Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule starting Saturday when it visits Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. at 1 p.m. on John Q. Hammons Court. S&T continues the road trip Monday when it takes on seventh-ranked Drury, with a tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m in the O'Reilly Family Event Center. 
 
The Miners (2-4) enter GLVC play coming off a 73-50 loss at 10th-ranked Missouri Southern last Wednesday evening. Alex Kerr (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) and Anna Finley (Owensville, MO/Owensville) both contributed 14 points while Kerr led the Miners with two blocks. Laura Rodriguez (Gran Canaria, Spain/Baloncesto Torrelodones) added nine points, all coming in the first half, while Michaela Davis (Keokuk, Iowa/Keokuk) led S&T with nine rebounds while dishing out two assists. 
 
About SBU:
The Bearcats (3-2) was picked 10th in the pre-season GLVC rankings coming off a 16-14 (10-10 GLVC) record a season ago. SBU enters the game coming off a split of two games in San Juan, P.R. last weekend. Emma Perry is currently leading the team averaging 12.3 points per game, shooting 42 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from 3-point range. The last time S&T defeated SBU was during the 2020-21 season. 
 
ABOUT DRURY:
The Lady Panthers (4-1), the six-time GLVC champions and prohibitive favorite to win the GLVC this season, enter the game coming off a 68-67 overtime loss to third-ranked Ashland on Wednesday night. 
 
Alana Findley led all Lady Panthers with 27 points while shooting 12-of-20 from the field. The other two double-figure scorers included Kaylee DaMitz-Holt with 14 points while Allie Clevenger added 12 points. Before entering the Ashland game, Terrion Moore was the Lady Panthers second leading scorer with 14.7 points per game but was held scoreless; however, she led Drury with nine rebounds in the game. 
 
Drury returns 10 letterwinners including three All-GLVC members in Findley, DaMitz-Holt and Moore while adding four newcomers to the team. The Lady Panthers will open their GLVC schedule hosting the Miners, who are in search of their first road win of the 2022-23 season.
