Women’s Soccer Back on Road Sunday Opposite Panthers

ROLLA, Mo. – Coming off the heels of their second double overtime draw in as many weeks, the Missouri S&T women's soccer team will look to change their Sunday afternoon fortunes as they take to the road for a Great Lakes Valley Conference match against Drury.
 
The Miners (3-2-2, 2-1-2) played their second consecutive Sunday scoreless overtime draw against Rockhurst after knocking off SBU 4-0 last Friday to open the weekend. Freshman Paige VanDaele (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) led the charge in the win over the Bearcats, scoring twice in 48 minutes off the bench to record the first multi-goal game of her career. Kristin Steins (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) recorded two more shutouts over the weekend and now has three on the season as S&T has recorded four straight shutouts for the first time since 2003.
 
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) leads the Miners in goals (4) and assists (3) while Lily Chung (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) also has three goals and an assist. Melanie Kulig (Belleville, IL/Belleville West), Lauren Bulcroft (Claremore, OK/Verdigris). Ally Hasken (Freeport, IL/Freeport), Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) and Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) each have a goal this season to make up the balance of the Miner's scoring this season. Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) is second on the team with two assists, while Allison Cole (Mansfield, TX/Mansfield), Andersyn Foster (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic) and Lexi Frederick (Warrenton, MO/Warrenton) each have one assist to their credit on the campaign. Steins has made 24 saves against 69 shots this season and has a goals against average of 1.00.
 
The Panthers (6-1-0, 4-0-0) have won their last four matches coming into the weekend and plays host to Maryville before taking on S&T on Sunday. Drury has outscored their opponents 13-2 this season and has had 10 different players find the net, led by Elsa Gonzalez with three goals and Chloe Cash with two goals, while eight other Panthers have one goal each. Gonzalez and Cash also two assists each and are tied for the team lead in that department along with Keely Combs, while four other players have one assist each.
 
The Panthers have utilized three different netminders this season, with Kaitlin Knetzke seeing the lion's share of the action, allowing just one goal in 517:45 of action and making 12 saves against 41 shots and posting five shutouts en route to a 0.17 GAA. Sarah Franks has twice seen action and has a save against three shots faced while Grace Vincent also have a save in just over 30 minutes of action this season.
 
Last spring, the Panthers picked up a win in Rolla by a score of 2-0 and currently have a two-game winning streak in the series. S&T's last win came in 2018 in Springfield after scoring a goal in the final 10 minutes to pick up the 1-0 win.
