Miners Travel North for Final Road Swing of Season

ROLLA, MO- The Miners (2-8-1, 2-8-1 GLVC) will hit the road one last time this season when they make the journey up to Lewis and Illinois Springfield this weekend.

S&T is currently on a three-game losing skid after suffering back-to-back losses against Southern Indiana and Indianapolis this past weekend.

After Madeline Goeke (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) scored in the 7' of play to give the Miners a 1-0 lead, UIndy got back-to-back goals from Kiki Sauceda within 90 seconds of one another to give the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead. They would add one before the half and put S&T down 3-1 after the opening 45 minutes of play.

Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) scored her third goal of the season in the 64' when Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) found her in the box and connected to the back of the net. Now within one of Indianapolis, S&T tried to stage a comeback. But, UIndy's defense held strong and the Miners suffered the 3-2 loss.

Gratz currently leads the team with three goals and 13 shots on-goal while Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) and Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) have both scored two goals.

In goal, Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) and Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) have been the go-to's for the Miners with Johnson leading the way with 34 saves while Steins has 16 saves.

Lewis (3-6-2, 3-6-2 GLVC) is coming off a 1-0 loss to the Panthers of Drury after they took down the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist 3-0 two days prior.

For the season, Courtney Sengstock leads the team with two goals while four other players have recorded one goal each. In goal for the Flyers, Lucy Clark has recorded a team-high 28 saves in 850 minutes of work.

Illinois Springfield (2-7, 2-7 GLVC) recorded their second win of the season last Saturday when they defeated the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist 2-1 after goals from Kayla Meyer and Izabel Pina.

For the season, Ally Lassetter, Kayla Meyer, and Izabel Pina have all recorded one goal each while Amanda Meyer has recorded the only Prairie Star assist of the season.

In goal, Amanda Finnell has gotten the start in seven of the teams nine games with 18 saves recorded.
