Miners Drop Two to 5th Ranked Greyhounds

ROLLA, MO- The Miners faced a tough challenge today, taking on the 5th ranked Greyhounds of Indianapolis. While S&T did all they could to hang with UIndy, the Miners ultimately fell to the Hounds 13-5 and 9-1.

After looking at a 4-0 deficit going into the bottom of the 1st inning, the Miners put themselves right back into the game. With Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) at second base, Holli Finnell (Nolensville, TN/Nolensville) sent a ball into shallow center field to score Passolano and cut UIndy's lead to 4-1.

Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) would cut deeper into the Greyhounds lead when she sent a ball straight away into center field for a 2-run homerun.

They Greyhounds would add in eight runs between the 2nd and 3rd innings to extend their lead out to as much as 12-3.

Charlye Rowland (Pearcy, Ark./Lake Hamilton) would get her first homerun of the season in the bottom half of the 4th inning with a 2-run shot over the left-center fence and make it a 12-5 game. While the Hounds added one more run in the top of the 6th inning, the Miners were unable to get any offense going in the bottom half of the inning and suffered the 13-5 loss.

It was all UIndy in the second game of the doubleheader; they would hold the Miners hitless through seven innings while the lone S&T run came in the bottom of the 1st inning when Keely Morgan (Laguna Hills, CA/Laguna Hills) reached on a fielder's choice and allowed Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) to score. The Greyhounds would go on to win the second game 9-1.
