Box Score 2 LEBANON, ILL.- The Miners (5-27, 4-16 GLVC) faced a tough challenge today, taking on the Bearcats of McKendree University (20-8, 17-5 GLVC). While S&T did all they could to hang with McKendree, their offense was too much for the Miners and they fell 10-0 and 4-0.
In the opening game of the doubleheader, the Bearcats used a 9-run first inning to take the early lead. They would add in one more run in the bottom of the 3
rd inning to extend their lead out to 10-0.
Keeley Morgan and
Elizabeth Viox (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) would record the only hits of the game for the Miners in the top of the 1
st and 3
rd innings, respectively.
McKendree took the early 3-0 lead in the second game of the doubleheader, getting a three-run homerun from Miranda Gajewski in the bottom of the 3
rd inning.
S&T was able to hold the Bearcats offense in the second game of the day. While they held McKendree to just four runs, the Miners were unable to connect for a run.
Morgan,
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township), and
Hannah Antzoulatos (Planfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) all recorded hits in the second game.
