SPRINGFIELD, ILL.- The Miners (3-9-1, 3-9-1 GLVC) picked up a shutout win over the Prairie Stars today to wrap up their traveling schedule.
It wouldn't be until the 53' of the match when
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) found
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) for her third goal of the season and give the Miners the 1-0 lead. UIS would see four tries in the second half to make a comeback, but nothing could get by S&T goalkeeper,
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South). While the Miners saw more chances to add to their lead, the 1-0 lead would hold steady and secure them the win.
S&T fired off 13 shots today with Gratz leading the way with seven while she and Jackson were the only Miners to put shots on-goal today.
The Miners defense had a big part in today's win; they held the UIS offense to just eight shots the entire game while holding them to just two shots in the first half.
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) got the start in goal today and recorded three saves in 90 minutes of work.
