ROLLA, MO- The Miners (2-7-1) began their weekend series against the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana. While S&T did all they could to hold USI, their offense proved to be too powerful and the Miners suffered the 5-1 loss.
USI would score two goals in the first half and another two right off the bat in the second half to take a 4-0 lead.
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) recorded her second goal of the season in the 65' of the game when
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) found her in the box and connected to the back of the net to cut the Miners deficit to 4-1. This would be S&T's only goal of the game while the Screaming Eagles got one more goal in the 73' to take the 5-1 game.
Along with Jackson, Gratz,
Andersyn Foster (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic),
Marissa Menendez (Chesterfield, Mo./Villa Duchesne), and
Melanie Kulig (Belleville, Ill./Belleville Township) all recorded shots.
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) got the start in goal tonight going 62 minutes and recording six saves.
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) finished off the remaining 27 minutes and recorded one save.
