BOLIVAR, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team fell victim to an own goal Sunday afternoon that turned out to be the only tally of the game as the Miners dropped a 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference decision at Southwest Baptist.
The own goal came in the 23
rd minute of the contest, as the Miners (1-2-1) tried to head a ball back to goalkeeper
Davis Joseph (Andover, KS/Andover Central), but the ball sailed past him and into the net to give SBU (1-1-1) its lone goal.
The Miners outshot the Bearcats 15-6 in the contest and had seven shots on goal to SBU's four, but Bearcat goalkeeper Will vanHoornbeek turned away all of the S&T scoring efforts.  Joseph was credited with four saves in goal for the Miners.
Dario Rossell (Madrid, Spain/IES Lazaro Cardenas) had three shots to lead S&T, including two that were on goal.
Missouri S&T returns to action Friday when it hosts Drury at 7:30 p.m.
