Gratz Goal Gives Miners 2-1 Win Over Tritons

ST. LOUIS, MO- The Miners (2-5-1, 2-5-1 GLVC) picked up a much-needed win today, taking the 2-1 win over the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis to start their weekend.

S&T took the early 1-0 lead after an own goal by UMSL put them up with the lead in the 18' of play. The Tritons would tie the match at 1-1 just five minutes later when Mia Milazzo put one on-goal and connected to the back of the net.

The Miners would send three more shots at UMSL goalkeeper Amber Hayes before the end of the half and take the 1-1 tie into the second half.

Missouri S&T controlled play in the second half, sending 10 shots to UMSL's goal and getting the eventual game-winning goal from Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) in the 56' of play. With the 2-1 lead, S&T would continue to challenge Hayes with five more shots while Miners goalkeeper Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) didn't see a shot come near her in the final 45 minutes of play. The 2-1 win breaks the Miners three-game losing skid.

Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) led the team with seven shots today, five of them being on-goal, while Melanie Kulig (Belleville, Ill./Belleville Township), Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley), and Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) all recorded three shots today. Cameryn Boucher (Chandler, Ariz./Basha), Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty), and Andersyn Foster (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic) all recorded one shot each.

Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) got the start today going the whole 90 minutes and recording one save.
