ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit to win a game on Sunday, but wasn't able to find the same magic Friday afternoon as it dropped a 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference decision to Missouri-St. Louis at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex.
The Miners (3-4-1, 10 points) played on relatively even terms with the Tritons (5-2-2, 17 points) for much of the game, but it was UMSL who grabbed the advantage in the 37
th minute when Aaron Boulch got a shot past S&T goalkeeper
Michael Sallee (Springfield, MO/Catholic).
UMSL added to its lead just over four minutes into the second half when Omer Krdzic hit a shot inside the right post, but the Miners cut the lead in half in the 72
nd minute when
Jason Jorgensen (Florence, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Santa Maria) scored off a deflected ball in the box. However, after getting to within a goal, the Miners did not have another shot over the final 18 minutes of play.
The Tritons outshot the Miners 8-7 in the game and both teams had two shots on net; S&T's other shot on goal came from
Sean Perryman (Springfield, MO/Glendale).
Missouri S&T will resume play Sunday when it takes on McKendree in a 2:30 p.m. contest in Lebanon, Ill.
