ROLLA, MO- The Miners nearly held on today to force overtime against the Lions, but a second half goal from Lindenwood would doom them and S&T faced the 1-0 loss.
S&T's offense got rolling about 20 minutes into the start of the game;
Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty),
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva), and
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) all fired off shots to Lindenwood's Sam Blazek within a four-minute span but were unsuccessful in connecting for a goal.
Gratz would get close again in the 41' of play when she sent a shot towards the goal that went just right of it. After Karleigh Daniels from LWU fired off a shot at S&T goalkeeper
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) just as time expired in the half, the Miners and Lions took the 0-0 tie into the break.
S&T and LWU played dead even to open the second half of play until the 73' of play when Hannah Scholer found Samantha Linderer in the box and linked up for a Lions goal and 1-0 lead.
From there, the Miners would not record another shot and endured the 1-0 loss.
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) got the start in goal today recording five saves in 90 minutes of work.
