ROLLA, MO- The Miners suffered a rough loss to the Saints of Maryville University tonight, losing 4-1 to open the weekend.
Maryville got an early lead on the Miners, going up 2-0 after back-to-back goals from Amanda Kaltwasser in the 15' and 21' of play. S&T would record just one shot in the first half coming from
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) in the 36' that was saved by the Saints Katie Nash.
The Saints would get two more goals to open the second half to push their lead out to 4-0.
S&T's offense would get a little spark in it after
Ally Hasken (Freeport, IL/Freeport) sent off consecutive shots, one that was on-goal and saved by Maryville's goalkeeper.
Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) would record her second goal of the season when she sent a ball across the box from 25 yards out that floated into the net off the back post to cut the Miners deficit to 4-1.
That would be the last shot the Miners would get off in the half as they suffered the 4-1.
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) got the start in goal tonight going 66 minutes and recording two saves while
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) finished out the remaining 23 minutes and recording one save.
