ROLLA, MO- After winning three of their last four games, the Miners will look to continue the winning streak when they travel to Rockhurst and Southwest Baptist this weekend.
S&T took an early 5-0 lead in their second game against William Jewell on Tuesday and would use that lead to their advantage.
Jewell would score their lone run of the game off an S&T error in the top of the 6
th inning to cut their deficit to 5-1. The Miners would earn the run back in the bottom half of the inning when
Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) slapped a ball up the middle and brought
Elizabeth Viox (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) and
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) around make it a 7-1 game, and eventual win.
Rockhurst (8-4, 3-1 GLVC) is coming off a split to Drury on Tuesday that saw the Hawks get three runs off 10 hits in their second game of the day. After a solo shot to center field from Gallagher gave Rockhurst the 2-0 lead, Drury answered right back in the bottom of the 4
th inning with a homerun from Sneed to cut their lead in half.
Calli Wibbenmeyer would secure the win for RU in the top of the 5
th inning when she doubled and brought Emily Clark around to score for the 3-1 lead. Drury would be held to just one hit for the rest of the game and the Hawks would claim the 3-1 win.
For the season, Shelby Winkelman has been the strong bat for the Hawks with a .514 batting average with 19 hits in 37 at-bats while Emily Clark is hitting a solid .447 with 17 hits, two of them being homeruns.
Lexie Storrer has been the Hawks go-to in the circle collecting a 6-1 record and a 0.52 ERA in 40.2 innings of work.
Southwest Baptist (1-11, 0-2 GLVC) is coming off back-to-back losses to Rockhurst last week that saw them get outscored 10-0 over the two-game span.
For the season, Renae Gilmore and Nicole Horstman are the only hitters to have played in all 12 games for the Bearcats this season, collecting a combined 17 hits. SBU has gotten two homeruns from Morgan McMullin an one from Kaitlyn Bagby while Alyssa Reed is leading the team with a .263 batting average.
In the pitcher's circle, Hallie Henderson, Emma Wood, and Reilly Rupert have split time for the Bearcats with Henderson leading the way with a 3.14 ERA and 20 strikeouts in seven appearances.
