CHOCTAW, MS.- In their spring season opener, the Miners have come out with a bang; while the team currently sits in a tie for first place, three individuals will head into round two in the top-10.
With a round score of 288, Missouri S&T currently sits tied for 1
st place with Mississippi University while Christian Brothers is right behind them with a score of 289. Martin Methodist and Spring Hill College round out the remaining teams in the top-five.
S&T has two individuals in the running for the top spot of the tournament;
Gustav Liljedahl (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan) and
Fatt Hoe Yong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/SMK Seri Bintang Utara) are in a three-way tie for third place after opening play with scores of 71.
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) is not far behind his teammates while in an eight-way tie for 6
th place with a round score of 72.
Mike Finnegan (San Tan Valley, Ariz./Perry) and
Colin Stolze (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Preparatory) round out the rest of the team who recorded scores of 74 and 79, respectively.
Mississippi University's Brandon Walker and Christian Brothers' Daniel Maybee hold the top spot for individuals with round scores of 70 after shooting two under.
