WACO, Texas – Missouri S&T head football coach
Todd Drury is among 35 coaches across the nation who were named to the American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Leadership Institute.
Coaches eligible for this opportunity had to be born on or after Jan. 1, 1987 and must be currently serving as a high school head coach, two-year college full-time assistant or head coach, or NAIA or NCAA (all divisions) full-time assistant or head coach.
Drury is one of two coaches at the NCAA Division II level that was selected, the other being Mickey Mental, the head coach at Notre Dame College in Ohio.
Drury has served on the S&T coaching staff since 2015, when he joined the Miner as the team's defensive line coach. He was elevated to defensive coordinator one year later, then became the S&T head coach following the 2018 season and has led the Miners to winning seasons in each of his three years in that position, including a 6-5 mark in 2021 after S&T won four of its final five games.
In addition to receiving a stipend to attend the upcoming AFCA Coaches Convention, Drury and the other 34 participants will be invited to attend the one-day institute that features interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression and family balance.
The coaches selected to participate came from a pool of over 200 coaches that had to submit a resume, five references and a 1,600-word article or five-minute instructional video on an offensive, defensive, special teams or position-specific topic of the applicant's choosing during the summer.
