Miners Set to Open 2022 with GLVC Action at Rockhurst

ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T women's basketball team will ring in the new year Sunday afternoon at the Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse in Kansas City as they resume Great Lakes Valley Conference action with the first of two matchups against Rockhurst in a contest scheduled for 1 P.M.
 
The Miners (4-5, 1-2 GLVC) are riding a two-game winning streak into Sunday's game, having knocked off William Woods and Culver-Stockton in their final contests of 2021. Laura Rodriguez's (Gran Canaria, Spain/Baloncesto Torrelodones) 13.7 PPG lead the club as do her 18 assists. All-GLVC performer Alex Kerr (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) is coming off her first double-double of the season in S&T win over the Wildcats before Christmas and was named the league's Player of the Week for her efforts. In four games this season, the senior is averaging 8.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game with five blocks and is shooting .652 from the floor. Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville), the GLVC leader in blocked shots with 25, ranks second on the team in minutes per game with 27.4 and is also averaging 8.8 PPG along with a team-high 6.6 RPG and is shooting .690 from the floor and .750 (21-28) from the stripe.
 
Eryn Puett (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) leads the Miners in three-point percentage at .438 while Jada Lindesmith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lutheran) checks in at .351 and has a team-high 13 triples this season, just one ahead of Rodriguez. Marta Durk (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) has picked the pockets of the opposition a team-high 18 teams and leads the team in minutes with 28.4 per night. Kristen Keys (St. Louis, MO/Westminster Christian Academy) is the other Miner with double-digit steals with 13 and also has 17 dimes this season.
 
Rockhurst (5-3, 1-1 GLVC) last played December 18 in the Mocs Christmas Classic hosted by Florida Southern in Lakeland, Florida. The Hawks knocked off the host Mocs 64-53 before falling to #19 Eckerd 54-40. Prior to that, RU picked up a win over SBU to open GLVC play 81-69 before falling to #3 Drury 73-44. Prior to their trip south, Rockhurst notched a 73-55 win over North Central (MN).
 
A trio of Hawks are averaging better than 10 points per night, led by Daly Sullivan's mark of 17.5. Sullivan also leads the Hawks from behind the arc, shooting .407 from three and is the only player on the roster with more than 10 made triples this season with 22. Keegan Sullivan is averaging 12.1 PPG with 7.4 RPG and has a team-best 20 assists while shooting .369 from the floor and .895 (17-19) from the line. Molly Hummel rounds of the trio, averaging 10.1 PPG while shooting at a .466 clip and is also .895 from the free throw line and leads the team with seven blocked shots. Ella Wedergren's 16 steals lead the team while Reagan Dodd's 8.0 RPG are tops on the club.
 
S&T holds a 22-12 lead in the all-time series between the schools but has dropped the last four in the series, including both games last season by scores of 62-59 in Rolla in December 2020 and an 82-57 decision in Kansas City last January.
