S&T to host Drury to open GLVC slate Monday at Gibson Arena

ROLLA, Mo. -- With its first win under its belt, Missouri S&T will embark on its Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule Monday this evening as it plays host to Drury at Gibson Arena.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
 
S&T and Drury both come into tonight's conference opener still trying to gain some footing, as the Miners come into the game at 1-3 on the season and the Panthers are 2-4 on the young season.

After a pair of close losses at the Doubletree Holiday Classic played last week in Springfield, the Miners got into the win column Saturday as five players scored in double figures in a 91-60 win over Principia.  S&T shot 50 percent and ran out to a 21-point lead by the intermission and led by as much as 33 in the second half in the eventual 31-point win.
 
Julien Smith (Fort Worth, TX/Northwest) led the five in double figures with 19 points as S&T had balanced scoring in the win.  Ryan Parker (Bloomington, IN/Bloomington South) made six of his eight shots from the field to finish with 15 points, while Kaden Froebe (Lincoln, IL/Lincoln) had 13 points while adding six assists and four steals in the contest.  The Miners' other double figure scorers Saturday were Kevin Legardy (Las Vegas, NV/Canyon Springs) with 12 points and Saheem Anthony (Brooklyn, NY/Westinghouse) with 10.
 
Smith leads the Miners with an average of 18.5 points per game, while Froebe is averaging 13 per game and Alex Strating (Wassenaar, Netherlands/American School of the Hague) is at 11.8 per contest.  Legardy leads S&T in rebounding with 5.8 per game, as well as in assists with 13 and steals with nine.

S&T has scored 90 points in back-to-back games for the first time since the first two games of the 2018-19 campaign.

ABOUT DRURY: Drury is looking to bounce back from an 89-62 loss to Evangel on Saturday, as the Panthers were held to 32 percent shooting in the first half and fell behind by 22 points at the intermission.  Quenton Shelton led Drury with 14 points, while Victor Nwagbarochoa finished with 12.

Nwagbarochoa leads the Panthers with an average of 13.7 points per game on the season, while Malek Davis is scoring 11.8 per game and is pacing the team in assists with 15.  Drury's top rebounder is Obi Okafor with 5.2 per game; he is also averaging 9.8 points per contest.

Drury has been outscored by an average of 15.2 points per game this season and three of its four losses have been by double figure margins.
