ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's
Breon Michel (Colorado Springs, CO/Vista Ridge), who scored three touchdowns including the game-winner in the Miners' come-from-behind victory over Indianapolis Saturday, was named today as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.
Michel, who earned the honor for the second time this season, had seven receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the contest. It was his fifth game this season in which he surpassed the 100-yard mark in receptions and fourth game with multiple touchdowns.
His first touchdown reception came with the Miners trailing 28-7 when he hauled in a 21-yard pass in the end zone from
Luke Hertzler (St. Louis, MO/Parkway North), then he ran 12 yards for a touchdown on an end around early in the fourth quarter to cut the UIndy lead to 28-21.
With S&T trailing 28-24, Michel made a juggling catch on a ball in the flat and raced 40 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 2:47 remaining to give the Miners their first lead of the game and they would hold on to post their first-ever win over UIndy.
The Miners, who improved to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the GLVC with the win, will host conference leader Lindenwood Saturday at 1 p.m. at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
