ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Missouri S&T struggled to get a lot of offense generated Friday night and dropped a 3-0 decision to Lindenwood in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer action.
The Miners (5-3-1, 4-2-1 GLVC) were outshot in the contest 23-10, but only one of those 10 shots was on net as the Lions (5-4, 5-3 GLVC) were able to grab the lead in the first half and sustain it to win for the fifth consecutive time.
Lindenwood took the lead in the 30
th minute on a goal by Santiago Rodriguez, as he hit a shot from across the box into the lower right corner past S&T goalkeeper
Davis Joseph (Andover, KS/Andover Central).
The Lions' second tally was an own goal in the 58
th minute as a cross in the direction of the S&T went off a Miner defender and into the net, then Joshua Scholl scored into the lower left corner off a rebound in the 61
st minute to complete the scoring.
Joseph finished the contest with eight saves, while
Jason Jorgensen (Florence, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Santa Maria) had two of the Miners' 10 shots on the night.
The Miners will take on 14
th-ranked Maryville Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in St. Louis.
