Women’s Soccer Looks to Rebound with Trip to St. Louis

ROLLA, Mo. – Coming off their first loss in nearly in three weeks, the Missouri S&T women's soccer team will look to get back on the right path this weekend as they make the St. Louis swing on their schedule, traveling to Lindenwood Friday evening before wrapping up the weekend at Maryville Sunday afternoon.
 
The Miners (3-3-2, 2-2-2) had just one game this past weekend, opening their three-game road trip opposite Drury in Springfield. Despite a few good scoring chances, the Miners came out on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision and saw their shutout streak comes to a close after nearly 454 minutes.
 
For the season, Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) leads the team in goals (4), assists (3) and shots (38). Lily Chung (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) and Paige VanDaele (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) have three goals each while Melanie Kulig (Belleville, IL/Belleville West), Lauren Bulcroft (Claremore, OK/Verdigris), Ally Hasken (Freeport, IL/Freeport), Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) and Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) each have a goal this season. Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) leads the Miners with two assists while Chung, Kulig, Allison Cole (Mansfield, TX/Mansfield), Andersyn Foster (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic) and Lexi Frederick (Warrenton, MO/Warrenton) each have one.
 
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) has been the primary goalkeeper for S&T in 2021, starting seven of eight matches and making 28 saves against 83 shots faced while posting three shutouts to post a 1.17 GAA.  Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, IL/Granite City) has also seen time in goal, making six saves against 15 shots faced.
 
The Lions (4-4-1, 4-2-1) are back at home this weekend after splitting their matches this weekend, dropping a 2-1 decision to Southwest Baptist before toppling Rockhurst 1-0. Lindenwood has a trio of two-goal scorers this season in Emily Burton, Bailey Bologna and Maggie Weller, while Amanda Orlando has the Lions' other goal this season. Eight different players have tallied an assist for LU this season.
 
Sam Blazek has seen the majority of time in the net this season for Lindenwood, starting all seven games she has played in and recording 27 saves against 85 shots faced to post a 1.39 GAA. Samantha Linderer has started twice and has 12 saves against 27 shots faced and 0.93 GAA, while Erika Anstine has also seen time in goal.
 
The Saints (3-6-0, 2-5-0) have just one game this weekend against the Miners after splitting last weekend's road trip, falling 1-0 in double overtime to Drury before blanking Southwest Baptist 2-0. Amanda Kaltwasser enters the week as the team's leading scorer and also has an assist on the season. Tori Calvert is the only other Saint with multiple goals this season, as she has two along with an assist. Five other Saints have found the back of the net this season as MU has scored 10 goals in nine matches. Molly Krispin and Kennedy Reeser are tops on the club with two assists each while three other players make of the balance of the Saints' assists.
 
Katie Nash has been the primary netminder for the Saints, starting all seven games she has played in and posting 28 saves and a 1.41 GAA in 702:28 of play. Keely Monroe and Elyse Waterhouse have each started a game and have two saves apiece, with the latter posting a shutout in her lone action of the season.
 
Last season, the Miners dropped a 1-0 decision to the Lions at home and fell 4-1 to the Saints, with the lone goal in the two matches coming from Roberts.
