ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T cornerback Cameron Clemons (St. Louis, MO/Lutheran North), whose interception helped set up the Miners' go-ahead touchdown in Saturday's win at McKendree, was named today as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

Clemons had three tackles, four pass breakups and the interception in S&T's 37-31 win at McKendree as the Miners won on the road for the first time this season to return to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the GLVC.  It is the first weekly defensive award won by Clemons during his Miner career and first by a Miner during the 2021 season.

The interception came with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter in a game that was tied at 31, as Clemons picked off a Turner Pullen pass and returned it 27 yards to the McKendree 23-yard line.  Missouri S&T took the lead three plays later on a 12-yard touchdown run by Gideon Niboh (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) with 1:40 remaining.

Clemons' interception was one of three recorded by the Miner defense on Saturday.

The Miners will be at home this Saturday as they will host Indianapolis in a 1 p.m. game at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
