Olivia Young (Millstadt, IL/Belleville Township) has been named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Young is now eligible for the Academic All-America Team that will be announced later this summer.
The 2020 Academic All-District Softball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Young, who is a senior in mechanical engineering, posted a 3.74 GPA.
Young, whose final season was cut short, ended the 2020 season with 14 hits and one homerun while hitting .286. She led the team with seven runs batted in, a .490 slugging percentage, and two triples in the team's 16 games.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and have reached sophomore in athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
