SPRINGFIELD, MO- The Miners kicked off their weekend road trip in the house of the number one team in the country in Drury University. While S&T hung with the Panthers offense to start the game, hot shooting along with aggressive defense added up quickly as Missouri S&T faced the 116-68 loss.
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) opened the game with a three-pointer from the opposite corner to give the Miners the quick 3-0 lead. DU's Paige Robinson would score five consecutive points for the Panthers to give Drury their first lead of the night.
Alex Kerr (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and
Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) added in shots of their own to make it a 7-6 game, but a three minute scoring drought from S&T put them in the hole. A 12-0 run from the Panthers put them up with 19-6 with 4:22 left in the first quarter. Drury would finish the rest of the quarter on a 13-6 scoring run to take a 32-12 lead.
A 34-point second quarter from the Panthers would extend their lead out to 66-37 heading into halftime.
It was much the same in the third quarter; while S&T shot 45% from the field and went 6-7 from the free-throw line, Drury took their largest lead mid-way through the quarter at 80-41.
After being held to just 13 points in the final quarter, S&T suffered the 114-68 loss.
Four different Miners scored in double-digits in today's game;
