Miners Open 2019 Season on the Road

ROLLA, MO- The Miner women's soccer team will kick off their 2019 campaign this weekend on the road with matches at Delta State on Friday night and Christian Brothers on Sunday afternoon.

S&T comes into the season with 19 returners and numerous seasoned veterans; seniors Julia Crets (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North), Chayse Richardson (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), Kate Sikora (Highland, Ill./Highland), Lauren Traugott (North Richland Hills, Texas/Birdville), Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka), Clara Scotte (Lerberget, Sweden/Höganäs Kullagymnasiet), Courtney Pyrtle (Foristell, Mo./Timberland), Brianna Thiemann (Wentzville, Mo./Francis Howell), and Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) all saw notable time last season that will help to lead the team this season.

Junior Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) returns for the Miners in goal after splitting time last season with Liz Carrano (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township). Steins led the team with 35 saves in 675 minutes of work while picking up three of the teams four wins with two shutouts.

The Miners finished the 2018 season with a 4-11-1 record that included a win over GLVC Conference Co-Champions Truman State and a tie with Southern Indiana, who shared part of the title.

About Delta State:
The Lady Statesmen come into the 2019 season after an 8-9-1 season in the Gulf South Conference and bring in 19 returners. DSU was led by Diana Okechukwu and Erin Longsden in the previous season after the pair combined for 11 goals and three assists. In goal, the Lady Statesmen will look to sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Hilliard after she went 6-4-1 last season with 71 saves and four shutouts.

About Christian Brothers:
The Buccaneers are coming off of an 8-7-2 season in the Gulf South where they lost in the first round of the GSC Tournament. The Bucs return 21 players from last season and will look to junior midfielder Bailey Tadlock to lead the way; Tadlock recorded a team best 19 points with five goals and nine assists. CBU's Riley Chafin returns in goal this season after spending 1,284 minutes in goal and recording 76 saves.
