ROLLA, MO- The Miner women's soccer team will kick-off their GLVC schedule this Sunday when they travel to Maryville University to battle against the Saints.
Last season, Amanda Kaltwasser of Maryville recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Saints to a 3-0 win over S&T.
While their offense was hard to stop, MU's defense held the Miners offense to just two shots the entire match, only one of those being on-goal.
S&T is coming off their opening weekend where they tied with Delta State in their season opener and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University.
Freshman Payton Carter and senior
Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) both recorded goals this past weekend while junior goalkeeper
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) racked up eight saves between the two games.
Maryville is currently 1-0 for the season and picked up their win at Saginaw Valley State last week.
With just 40 seconds remaining in regulation, Kaltwasser found Alex Johnson in the box for a backdoor shot to give the Saints a late 1-0 lead. With the goal, the Cardinals were unable to produce any shot chances and gave Maryville their first win of the 2019 season.
The Miners and Saints will kick-off at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
