Durk Leads the Way as Miners Drop Final Game of Season

ROLLA, MO- The Miner women's basketball team saw their season come to an end today with the 70-91 loss to Rockhurst University.

The Hawks took control of the game early gaining a 13-2 lead just four minutes into the opening quarter. A three-pointer from Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) and an added free-throw from Alex Kerr (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) would put the Miners within seven of Rockhurst.

RU would finish the quarter on a 12-6 run to take a 25-12 lead.

Things didn't improve for the Miners in the second quarter; Rockhurst got a three-pointer from Briahita Sebek with 23 seconds left in the half to give the Hawks their largest lead of the game of 22 and take a 54-32 lead heading into the break.

S&T came out with a bang in the third quarter, cutting their deficit to 12 after Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) hit back-to-back three-pointer and a lay-up from Laura Rodriguez (Gran Canaria, Spain/Baloncesto Torrelodones). Along with those baskets, Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) and Marta Durk (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) added in long-range points to make five of the teams 11 three-pointers in the third quarter.

Despite the run the Miners made in the third quarter, the Hawks held their lead for the remaining 10 minutes to come out with the 91-70 win.

Marta Durk (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) led the way, offensively, for the Miners with 14 points while going 4-7 from long range.
