ROLLA, Mo. -- The Great Lakes Valley Conference season gets underway for the Missouri S&T men's basketball team Tuesday night as it hosts Maryville in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Gibson Arena.

The Miners bring a 1-4 record into Tuesday's game after dropping a pair of games over the weekend at the Doubletree Classic in Springfield, as S&T fell to Rogers State and Southern Arkansas in the two-day event.  In Saturday's contest with SAU, the Miners had four players score in double figures, led by Mitch Fairless' (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) career-high 20 points, but couldn't overcome a late run by the Muleriders that decided the game.

Dulan Scott (Chicago, IL/Farragut Academy) is pacing the Miners in the scoring column with an average of 13.7 points per game as one of four double figure scorers for the Miners.  CJ Hedgepeth (Evansville, IN/Harrison) is averaging 12.4 points per game, while Fairless is averaging 12 per game and Chima Oduocha (Hoffman Estates, IL/Conant) is scoring 10 points per contest.

Oduocha also ranks fourth in rebounding in the GLVC with his 8.4 boards per game, while Hedgepeth has a team-high 13 three-point baskets.  S&T hit a season-high 12 three-pointers in the contest against Southern Arkansas.

ABOUT MARYVILLE: The Saints started the year with losses in two of their first three games, but righted the ship with three straight wins before dropping an 84-60 decision to Ohio Dominican to bring a 3-3 record into Tuesday's game.  The Saints had extended their winning streak to three by beating Lincoln 65-61 on Tuesday before the loss to Ohio Dominican.

Freshman guard Parker Long leads the Saints -- a team with only two returning players from last season -- with an average of 19.2 points per game and has 32 assists thus far, while fellow freshman Owen Long has averaged 11 points and Antoine Pittman has averaged 10 in his first two appearances of the season last week.  The Saints' top rebounder is Kamto Eze with an average of 7.4 per game.

Missouri S&T won both games from Maryville last season, winning 87-73 in Rolla behind a career-high 30 points from Scott and completing the season sweep when it held on for a 76-70 victory in St. Louis.
