10/29/2019 2:34:00 PM

ROLLA, MO- Looking to end the regular season on a high-note and squeeze their way in to the conference tournament, the Miners will travel to McKendree and Southern Indiana in hopes to extend their season.

S&T is just fresh off a double-overtime tie against the Knights of Bellarmine University. After multiple chances from both were unsuccessful, both teams found themselves tied 0-0 after 110 minutes of play.

For the season, Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) leads the team with four goal and an assist for nine points while Julia Crets (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) and Peyton Carter (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) both that two goals each. Chayse Richardson (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka), Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty), and Madeline Goeke (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) have all scored one goal apiece.

Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) has been a force in goal this season, playing 1,203 minutes and making 76 saves. She has four shutouts recorded for the season and has a career best four wins.

About McKendree:
The Bearcats (11-3-2; 9-2-2 GLVC) come into the weekend off a 1-0 loss to Truman State.

TSU took the lead just 21 minutes into the match when Isabel Kurzban found Hanna Burke in the box for an easy one-n-one situation against McKendree goalkeeper, Zoe Brochu. That goal, along with the Bulldogs defense would be enough to hold the Bearcats down the remainder of the match and give them the 1-0 loss.

For the season, Sydnee Carroll and Paula Melsheimer lead the team with three goals each while five other McKendree players have recorded goals.

Zoe Brochu has been the go-to for the Bearcats in goal this season; in her 1,190 minutes of work, she has recorded 56 saves and five shutouts while allowing just six goals all season.

Historically, the Miners and Bearcats have been evenly matched; S&T comes into Friday's game 4-5-1 all-time against the Bearcats, but with the last win coming in the 2014 season.

Last season when the two teams met, McKendree netted the game-winning goal in the 71' of play with Jane Skaggs headed a ball off a corner kick past the S&T defense. Despite firing off four shots after the goal, the Miners were not able to tie the game up and dropped the 1-0 decision.

About Southern Indiana:
The Screaming Eagles (10-4-1; 8-4-1 GLVC) come into this weekend's match-up fresh off a 2-0 win over the Hawks of Quincy University that helped moved USI into 5th place in the GLVC standings.

Southern Indiana got two second half goals from Katlyn Andres and Taylor McCormick to secure their win over the Hawks.

For the season, both Andres and Maggie Winter have a combined 12 goals while recording 15 and 14 points, respectively. Eleven other USI players have recorded this season the assists coming from 11 Screaming Eagles.

Maya Etienne, who has all 10 wins for Southern Indiana, comes into the weekend with eight shutouts and 72 saves. While her offense has scored 28 goals this season, she has allowed just 10 to get by her in 1,356 minutes of work.

Last season when the two teams met, both defenses held steady through the 110 minutes of play for a 0-0 outcome. While neither team score find the back of the net, both teams saw multiple chances with a combined 13 shots on-goal during the match.

Before host the Miners on Sunday, the Screaming Eagles will face off against the Saints of Maryville University on Friday.
