10/22/2019 3:40:00 PM

ROLLA, MO- Following a key victory over the Hawks of Quincy this past weekend, the Miners sit in 8th place in the GLVC standings as they begin their final stretch of regular season games. S&T will start thing off this weekend at Indianapolis on Friday night and then at Bellarmine on Sunday afternoon.

The lone goal of Sunday's match came in the 53' of play when Chayse Richardson (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) flip-threw the ball into the box and found an open Madeline Goeke (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) who headed the ball past Quincy goalkeeper, Emilee Autry. Goeke's goal was enough to secure the Miners the win.

For the season, Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) leads the team with four goals and an assist while Julia Crets (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) and Peyton Carter (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) each have two goals recorded. Goeke joins Richardson, Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka), and Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) who all have one goal apiece.

In goal, Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) has been the go-to with 58 saves in 1,003 minutes of work. She also has all three shut-outs recorded for the Miners and a career best 4-5-2 record this season.

About Indianapolis:
The Greyhounds (9-3-1, 7-3-1 GLVC) come into the weekend on a two game win streak that was extended after back-to-back wins over Southwest Baptist and Drury last weekend.

After the Panthers tied the game in the 40' of play, UIndy's Hannah Gamble found the back of the net with less than six minutes left in regulation to lift the Greyhounds over Drury.

For the season, Maria Herrero leads the team with five goals while Taylor Pecker has four goals and two assists recorded. Four other Greyhound players have multiple goals recorded for the season while four other players all have one goal each.

Sophia Saucerman, who has a 6-2-1 record, leads the team with 32 saves in 10 games while Laura Shake, who holds a 2-1 record and one shutout this season, has 11 saves in 282 minutes played.

Historically, the Miners have struggled against the Greyhounds. They're last win came in the 2016 season when S&T recorded the golden goal in the 95' of play to get the 3-2 win.

Last season when the two teams met, UIndy was able to edge past the Miners with a goal from Sierra Singer in the 64th minute that put them up 2-1. S&T was held to just two shots the rest of the match and suffered the loss.

About Bellarmine:
The Knights (10-3-1; 7-3-1 GLVC) are currently on a two game win streak after taking down Drury University and Southwest Baptist University this past weekend.

Bellarmine cruised to an easy win on Sunday when they secured the 6-0 win over the Bearcats. Brielle Heuglin recorded a hat-trick in the match while Heavyn O'Connell, Annabel Moore, and Natalie Teo all recorded goals. On top of their explosive offense, BU's defense held SBU to just seven shot the entire match, with only two of them being on-goal.

For the season, Isabella Zamborini and Samantha Ferry lead the team with four goals each while Moore and Heuglin have three goals each.

Elyssa Francis, who has played and started all 14 matches for the Knights, has 38 saves and just six goals allowed in 1,304 minutes of work.

S&T is currently on a four game skid against Bellarmine and suffered a 4-0 loss when they met last season. In their GLVC opener last season, the Miners offense was haulted by the Knight and held to just five shots the entire match.

Bellarmine will host the Saints of Maryville University before taking on the Miners on Sunday afternoon.
