ROLLA, MO- The Miners faced a rough setback tonight, falling 2-0 to the Bulldogs of Truman State.
TSU got things rolling less than six minutes into play when Hanna Burke found Chance Douglass in the box who struck a shot past S&T goalkeeper,
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South).
Just 30 seconds later, it was Douglass again who found the back of the net to put the Miners down 2-0 early.
Despite the early deficit, S&T recorded four shots in the opening half;
Courtney Pyrtle (Foristell, Mo./Timberland) sent one into the box off a Bulldog foul that just missed over the top while
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) and
Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) (2) both got shots off.
While the Miners held the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half, S&T's offense was halted; one shot, taken by Pyrtle in the 70' of play was the only shot they got off in the final 45 minutes.
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South), who played the entire 90 minutes, recorded seven saves tonight, bringing her season total to 61.
The Miners (4-6-2; 4-5-1 GLVC) will play in their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon when they host the Hawks of Quincy University.
