ST. CHARLES, MO- The Miners pulled off the ultimate comeback against the Lions of Lindenwood University tonight, getting two goals from
Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) to tie the game, and end the match in a 2-2 draw.
Lindenwood struck early in the match, getting a goal from Mia Corrigan in the 2' of play when SAmmi Gregory and Maggie Miller set up Corrigan in the box to fire one pass S&T goalkeeper, Kirstin Steins, to make it 1-0.
The Lions would get another goal just 13 minutes later when Kaleigh Kastberg found Sammi Gregory and set up Lindenwood's second goal of the match.
Less than two minutes before the half, the Miners got themselves on the board;
Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) sent a ball p to
Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) who fired it past Lindenwood's Megan Swanson to make it a 2-1 game. Foster would save the day with her second goal of the game in the 82' when
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) found her in the box and tied the match at 2-2.
Both team's defenses would hold solid through two overtimes, neither side getting a shot off in the 20 minutes of extra play.
Along with Foster's two goals and five shots,
Courtney Pyrtle (Foristell, Mo./Timberland) fired off two while
Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley),
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy),
Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka), and
Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) all sent one shot off, each.
Missouri S&T (3-5-2; 3-4-1 GLVC) will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis.
