Miners Drop GLVC Women's Soccer Road Contest To Quincy

Quincy, Ill. - The Missouri S&T women's soccer team allowed just one goal in this Sunday's (Sept. 16) Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) match versus Quincy but was unable to score as the Miners dropped a 1-0 road decision to the Hawks at QU's Legends Stadium.

The only score of the conference contest came at the 28:03 mark of the opening half as Cassidy Foley converted a penalty kick opportunity.

In goal, senior Liz Carrano (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) started for the Miners and registered a pair of saves in a complete-match performance.  QU's goalkeeper Emilee Autry turned aside the only S&T shot faced on net, which was taken by junior defender-midfielder Julia Crets (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) a little over nine minutes elapsed in the second half.

Leading S&T in shots was senior midfielder Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) with three total while Crets and senior defender Carli Tastad (Millstadt, Ill./Belleville West) both posted a shot apiece.

S&T ended the match trailing QU in shots, 7-5, although the Miners would claim a 3-1 edge in the second 45 minutes of action.  Quincy would edge out S&T in corner kicks by a 3-2 count.

With the loss, the Miners are now 1-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the GLVC this season.  On the other side, the Hawks improve to 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the conference this fall as a result of the victory
