Rolla, Mo. - The outcome of Missouri S&T women's soccer team's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opener this Friday (Sept. 14) wasn't a favorable one for the Miners as Bellarmine scored three times in the first half en route to a 4-0 victory at the S&T Soccer Field.
The Miners, who were making their first S&T Soccer Field appearance of this fall, are now 1-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the GLVC this season. On the other side, Bellarmine improves its overall record to 3-2-0 and 1-0-0 in the conference.
The match didn't stay scoreless for long after the opening whistle as Bellarmine scored 7:07 into the opening half on penalty-kick goal from Madison Stephen. The Knights netted their second goal of the match just barely under 12 minutes later as Olivia Taylor took a centering pass from Annabel Moore and connected on a shot from near the penalty kick marker to put BU up 2-0. Bellarmine, which would conclude the first half with a 9-0 shots advantage, increased its lead to 3-0 just one second under the 25-minute mark when Annabel Moore chipped the ball into the far side of the S&T net after taking an Isabella Zamborini crossing pass.
The Knights, who outshot the Miners 14-5 in the contest, added the second half's lone tally in the 74th minute as Isabella Zamborin scored unassisted on a through ball down the middle. S&T and Bellarmine both managed five shots apiece in the second 45 minutes of action. The Knights posted a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) started for the Miners and made three saves in the first half before giving way in the second half to senior
Liz Carrano (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township), who turned aside three Knights' shots on goal. Elyssa Francis picked the win by stopping one shot on net in the first 86:38 of the match while Abigail Burke came in relief and played the final 3:22 without facing a shot.
