On Deck: A busy week is on tap for the Missouri S&T softball team as the Lady Miners will play six games, starting with this Tuesday's (April 10) non-conference home doubleheader versus Rogers State. S&T then travels to St. Louis, Mo., this weekend (April 14-15) for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) two-game series with Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) this Saturday (April 14) and against Maryville Sunday (April 15).
2018 Record: Missouri S&T presently stands at 19-17 overall and 9-6 in the GLVC this season. The Lady Miners, who are 9-6 at home, 9-5 on the road, and 1-6 at neutral sites this campaign, are 5-5 in their last 10 outings to date. S&T split its fifth conference doubleheader of this season as the Lady Miners rallied for a 7-4 come-from-behind game-one win over in-state rival Drury Monday (April 9) at DU's Thompson Field in Springfield, Mo., before suffering a 7-1 loss in game two.
Missouri S&T Head Coach -
Cathy Monroe (Truman State, 2002), Third Season, 57-83. 0-3 vs. Rogers State, 0-4 vs. UMSL, 1-5 vs. Maryville
Monroe guided the 2016 Lady Miners to a five-win improvement in her first season with the squad as S&T made another six-game jump in the win column in 2017 going 22-31 overall and 14-16 in the GLVC. The Lady Miners were in contention for a spot in the GLVC Tournament all the way to the final day of the season with a team that had two all-conference performers. Monroe led S&T to a 16-35 mark in her first year after spending the previous 11 seasons as an assistant coach at Truman State University, the last two as the program's associate head coach. While at Truman, Monroe served as the acting head coach for the Bulldogs for an eight-game stretch during the early stages of the 2015 season and compiled a 7-1 record. Truman State concluded the 2015 campaign with a 33-16 overall record, which included a 21-7 GLVC mark and a second straight NCAA Division II Midwest Regional appearance.
The Opposition: Rogers State– The Hillcats are currently 27-14 overall with an 11-9 mark in the Heartland Conference (HC) this season. RSU, which is 6-5 on the road, 15-5 at home, and 6-4 at neutral sites this spring, is 1-6 in its last seven contests. The Hillcats, under third-year head coach Andrea Vaughan, are midst a four-game losing skid as a result of dropping a three-game league set to Texas A&M International this past weekend (April 6-7) at Dustdevil Field in Laredo, Texas. HC lost the series' opener to the Dustdevils 2-1 in eight innings last Friday (April 6) and then came up short in a 3-2 11-inning tilt followed by a 5-1 setback in the finale. Leading RSU offensively is freshman outfielder Allie McFetridge (.354, 7 HR, 39 RBIs, 45 hits), catcher-infielder Danelle Day (.312, 14 HR, 46 RBIs, 39 hits), Merissa Smith (.297, 9 HR, 28 RBIs, 38 hits), and freshman pitcher-outfielder Tailee Reding (.277, 3 HR, 17 RBIs, 33 hits). In the pitching circle, senior Alex Brake (10-4, 2.62 ERA, 98.2 IP), freshman Andrea Morales (8-6, 2.50 ERA, 95.1 IP), and Tailee Reding (8-4, five saves, 1.39 ERA, 75.2 IP) have been the Hillcats' primary hurler.
UMSL– The Tritons extended their winning streak to 10 straight with a league doubleheader sweep of William Jewell Monday (April 9) at WJC's Cardinal Field in Liberty, Mo. UMSL, which improved to 26-14 overall and 13-5 in the GLVC this season with the pair of wins, claimed a 10-2 six-inning victory over the Cardinals in game one and a 1-0 game-two triumph in 11 innings to win for the 12
thtime in their last 14 encounters. The Tritons, who are directed by second-year head coach Amanda Scott, are 10-3 at home, 7-5 on the road, and 7-5 at neutral sites this spring to date. Sophomore Andee Tiffee (13-5, 3 saves, 2.55 ERA, 107.0 IP) and junior Carly Kingery (9-3, 1 save, 2.15 ERA, 91.0 IP) have been UMSL's top pitchers this spring. At the plate, junior shortstop Regan Osborn (.395, 1 HR, 22 RBIs, 49 hits) along with junior catcher Serena Olson (.355, 1 HR, 13 RBIs, 43 hits), senior second baseman Jennah Perryman (.341, 8 HR, 41 RBIs, 46 hits), and junior first baseman Chelsea Martinez (.328, 7 HR, 37 RBIs, 45 hits) lead the way.
Maryville– The Saints are currently 20-17-1 overall and 7-11 in the GLVC this season following a pair of conference losses to Rockhurst Monday (April 9) at RU's Loyola Park in Kansas City, Mo. MU dropped a 2-1 game-one decision to RU and then suffered an 8-0 five-inning setback in the nightcap. The Saints, under second-year head coach Stephanie Decker, are 6-8 at home, 9-8 on the road, and 5-1-1 at neutral sites this campaign and sport a 5-5 ledger in their last 10 appearances. Senior outfielder Kelsey Martin (.370, 0 HR, 11 RBIs, 40 hits), sophomore shortstop Jacly Pasakarnis (.366, 7 HR, 25 RBIs, 41 hits), outfielder Hannah Tolley (.356, 0 HR, 7 RBIs, 32 hits), and sophomore catcher Samantha Hausl (.344, 5 HR, 21 RBIs, 42 hits) lead the Saints offensively. Sophomore Alyssa Callans (12-7, 1 save, 2.02 ERA, 125.0 IP) and redshirt senior Sheridon Sprague (7-8, 3.80 ERA, 114.1 IP) have been MU primary pitchers this spring.
All-Time Series: Missouri S&T is 0-3 in its series against Rogers State, which began in the 2017 season. The Lady Miners, who are 0-2 on the road and 0-1 at neutral sites versus RSU, dropped a 15-2 contest to the Hillcats earlier this season (Feb. 3) at Henderson State's Ronnie Hawkins Tournament in Arkadelphia, Ark. S&T trails UMSL 61-23 in a series dating back to 1980 and is 1-27 on the road, 15-26 at home, 7-8 at neutral sites against the Tritons. The Lady Miners suffered a pair of setbacks last season (April 14), losing 2-1 and 13-1 to UMSL at St. Louis, Mo. S&T has an 18-13 edge over Maryville in a series which originated in 1985. The Lady Miners, who are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams, went 1-3 against the Saints a season ago. S&T dropped two games, 1-0 and 3-1, to MU (Feb. 18-19) in St. Louis and then split a pair of road outings (April 15) with the Saints, winning 1-0 in the opener before falling 5-2 in the nightcap.

2018 GLVC Preseason Poll:Missouri S&T was picked to finish 12th in the 2018 GLVC Preseason Softball Coaches Poll as the Lady Miners received 51 points. Southern Indiana was tabbed as preseason favorite with 193 points followed by Missouri-St. Louis (182 pts.) and Truman State (166 pts.). S&T finished six points behind 11th-place Maryville (57 pts.) and 10 points in front of 13th-place Quincy (41 pts.). A season ago, the Lady Miners compiled a 22-31 overall record with a 14-16 conference mark.
On Deck:Missouri S&T will have another busy week as the Lady Miners begin a six-game home stand the week of April 17 at the S&T Softball Field in Rolla, Mo. S&T begins the week with a non-conference doubleheader against the Lindenwood (Mo.) Lions Tuesday, April 18, with game one commencing at 2 p.m. (CT). S&T then resumes GLVC action Saturday, April 21, versus the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles before concluding the weekend Sunday, April 22, against the McKendree Bearcats. Both conference twin bills will get underway at noon (CT) with the opening contest.
