Miners fall in second game of road trip to Greyhounds

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team dropped the second game of its season-ending road swing Sunday as Indianapolis handed the Miners a 2-0 loss in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Greyhounds (12-3-1, 7-3-1 GLVC) got a goal in the seventh minute of play from Javier Steinwascher, then let their defense take care of matters from that point as they stifled the Miners' offensive attack.  S&T (3-12, 3-9 GLVC) had only four shots in the contest and just one of them reached goalkeeper Miles Palmer or Will Roark, who took over in the UIndy nets late in the contest.

UIndy got an insurance goal in 77th minute when Felix Overmann headed in Alejandro Steinwacher's free kick from in front of the net.

The Greyhounds had an 11-4 advantage in shots.  S&T's best scoring chances came late in the contest, when Sean Perryman (Springfield, MO/Glendale) had a shot that Roark turned away and the Miners also had a couple of corner kick chances in the final moments.

Nick Posey (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) finished with six saves in 77 minutes of play for the Miners.

Missouri S&T will wrap up its 2018 campaign Wednesday when it faces Maryville in a noon contest in St. Louis, Mo.
