Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T women's volleyball team returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play this weekend (Oct. 19-20) with a pair of road encounters. The Miners square off against the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles this Friday (Oct. 19) at USI's Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Ind. Opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT). S&T then wraps up the league weekend action this Saturday (Oct. 20) versus the Bellarmine Knights in a 2 p.m. (CT) tilt at BU's Knights Hall in Louisville, Ky.
2018 Record: S&T, which is currently 13-10 overall and 5-6 in the GLVC this season, compiled a 1-2 record at the 2018 Midwest Region Crossover Tournament this past weekend (Oct. 12-13) in Indianapolis, Ind. The Miners dropped a 3-2 decision to Lake Erie last Friday (Oct. 12) in their tourney opener at The Academy Volleyball Club before prevailing 3-2 over Ursuline in Saturday's (Oct. 13) first match. S&T suffered a 3-0 loss to Northern Michigan later Saturday to conclude its weekend tournament action. The Miners are presently 3-5 on the road, 4-2 at home, and 6-3 at neutral sites this season to date.
S&T Head Coach –
Andy Halaz (Rockhurst, 2008), 1st season, 13-10 (.565). Halaz is presently in his first season at S&T and began his current duties on Jan. 28 after serving as the director of marketing and was the outdoor director for High Performance STL Volleyball Club in St. Louis, Mo., since 2014. He coached one of the High Performance STL Volleyball Club's top teams while organizing the outdoor training program. Halaz was the lead court trainer and summer camp coordinator at Georgetown from 2009-14 after spending two seasons (2008 and 2009) at Saint Louis where he was an assistant coach and the director of volleyball operations. During his time at SLU, the Billikens won at least a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championship and were NCAA Division I Tournament participants, including making a second-round appearance in 2008. Halaz also served as an assistant coach at Rockhurst for four seasons (2004-07) and helped the Hawks to four consecutive NCAA Division II Tourney appearances.

USI, under 14th-year head coach Leah Mercer, posted a 2-1 mark at this past weekend's (Oct. 12-13) Midwest Region Crossover Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. The Screaming Eagles, who are 4-4 at home, 1-8 on the road, and 5-1 at neutral sites this season, registered a 3-2 decision over Ohio Valley in their tourney opener last Friday (Oct. 12) before dropping a 3-1 tilt to Northern Michigan on Saturday (Oct. 13). USI notched a 3-1 triumph over Kentucky Wesleyan later Saturday (Oct. 13) in its final match appearance. A season ago, the Screaming Eagles registered a 12-19 overall mark and produced a 5-13 league ledger.

BU has won seven of its last eight matches and is midst a current six-match winning streak after winning all three of its Midwest Region Crossover Tournament contests this past weekend (Oct. 12-13) in Indianapolis, Ind. The Knights, who are directed by sixth-year head coach Jenni Grzebin, registered a pair of 3-0 victories over Wayne State and Malone last Friday (Oct. 12) before wrapping up the weekend tourney with a 3-2 decision over Grand Valley State this past Saturday (Oct. 13). Bellarmine, which hosts Drury this Friday (Oct. 19) before going up against Missouri S&T Saturday (Oct. 20), is 8-1 at home, 2-6 on the road, and 5-1 at neutral sites this fall. A season ago, the Knights produced a 23-9 overall record and were 13-5 in league competition.

All-Time Record: The 2018 campaign represents S&T's 12th season of intercollegiate women's volleyball competition since the program's inception in 2007. The Miners have accumulated a 166-213 record (.438) to date. S&T has produced three 20 or more victories in a season – 24-10 in 2011, 22-11 in 2015, and 20-13 in 2012.

Corinne Stulce (St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne) is 26 digs away from matching her career single-season high of 458 digs established in 31 matches a season ago. Stulce, who has totaled double-digit digs in 22 of S&T's 23 outings this season, has currently compiled a team-leading 432 digs in 23 appearances this fall and is averaging 5.02 digs per set ... Carson Talley's (St. Louis, Mo./Affton) 165 career blocks ranks eighth among the Miners' all-time leaders and is two shy of equalling Lynsey Jorgenson's (2007-09) seventh-place 167 career blocks ...

Carlie Combs (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) (267), and
Ellen Schulz (Wildwood, Mo./Eureka) (141) have combined to account for 65.2 percent (711-1,091) of the team's kills production so far this season.
2018 GLVC Volleyball Preseason Poll: S&T was picked 12th in the
2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coaches Preseason Poll as the Miners received 55 points. Lewis was chosen as the conference's preseason favorite with 180 points and 11 first-place votes. Rockhurst picked up the other three first-place votes to go with a second-most 171 points. Rounding out the top five were Illinois Springfield (149 pts.), McKendree (128 pts.), and Bellarmine (125 pts.). Truman State (121 pts.) placed sixth proceeded by Missouri-St. Louis (115 pts.), and Indianapolis (105 pts.). Drury (99 pts.) and Southern Indiana (72 pts.) garnered ninth and 10th place, respectively. Quincy (62 pts.) finished in 11th place while Missouri S&T was 12th. The final two placings in the 14-team league poll were occupied by William Jewell (48 pts.) and Maryville (26 pts.).
2018 S&T Roster: Missouri S&T's 2018 active roster consists of three seniors, four juniors and sophomores apiece, and five freshmen. Six of the 16 student-athletes play either the outside or right-side hitter position while four others are middle hitters, three setters, two defensive specialists, and one libero. Eight individuals hail from the state of Missouri and two from Kansas. Serving as S&T's captains for the 2018 season are

2017 Record: S&T concluded the 2017 season with a 10-21 overall record, which included a fifth-place 3-15 GLVC West Division mark.

will play their final home stand of the 2018 season next week (Oct. 23 and 26-27) with three consecutive conference matches at S&T's Gibson Arena in Rolla, Mo. S&T begins the home week's action by taking on the nationally-ranked Drury Panthers on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. (CT). The Miners then host the Truman State Bulldogs Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. (CT) in their annual Dig Pink match before closing out the home portion of their schedule Saturday, Oct. 27, versus the Quincy Hawks in a 3 p.m. (CT) Senior Day contest.
