Liberty, Mo. – Missouri S&T women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at William Jewell on Friday evening.
Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) led the Lady Miners with three shots in the contest.
The game was scoreless until the 39
th minute when S&T committed a foul right outside its penalty box. The Cardinals (6-3, 4-2 GLVC) took advantage scoring off the free kick.
Rylee Hanes (Ladera Ranch, Calif./San Juan Hills) stopped Lexy Hawkins initial shot but she was unable to control the rebound and Kayla Crowder was there to put it in.
William Jewell extended its lead in the 59
th minute on Crowder's second goal of the contest off a feed from Hawkins.
The Lady Miners had a chance to cut the lead in half with about 20 minutes left as
Katie Fuller (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) put in a misplay by the keeper but a foul was called on the play which negated the goal.
The Cardinals added a third tally in the 77
th minute as Shalynn Thomas scored her first goal of the season of pass from Hayley White.
William Jewell held a 19-9 edge in shots and an 8-4 edge in shots on goal in the match.
S&T (0-9, 0-7 GLVC) concludes the roadtrip on Sunday taking on Rockhurst at 12 p.m.
