S&T drops non-conference contest at Lindenwood

St. Charles, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners stepped out of Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Tuesday traveling to St. Charles to take on Lindenwood dropping a 1-0 decision to the Lions (3-1). Rylee Hanes (Ladera Ranch, Calif./San Juan Hills) stopped nine of 10 shots in goal for S&T (0-4).

The game was scoreless until the 75th minute when Alyssa Houck scored on a shot from five yards away off a nice play from Becky Roberts. Roberts set the play up by running down a long ball along the left side of the penalty area, was able to hold off Amalia Tettambel (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation) and slid a pass to Houck who shot it in from the middle of the box.

Carli Tastad (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) tried to tie the game taking a shot from distance that was saved by Mary McGilvary in the 77th minute. Tastad had another opportunity in the 84th minute but her header attempt sailed wide.

After being outshot 12-1 in the first 45 minutes the Lady Miners took seven shots in the second half and put four of those on goal. Tastad, Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) and Riley Cronin (Albuquerque, N. M./Sandia Prep) each took two shots and all three had a shot on goal.

S&T continues its four match road trip on Friday heading to Romeoville, Ill., to take on the Lewis Flyers beginning at 5 p.m.
