Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T's softball squad concludes its regular season this weekend heading up north to take on Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside. The Lady Miners (19-30, 11-15 GLVC) are still battling for the final spot in next week's GLVC Tournament and are currently sitting two games behind Indianapolis for the eighth and final spot.
For S&T to make it there it needs to win all four of their games this weekend and get some help along the way. The Lady Miners are currently a game behind Lewis, Bellarmine and Maryville. Bellarmine and Maryville are scheduled to play each other on Saturday in St. Louis while Lewis hosts S&T at 12 p.m. on Friday afternoon and Drury on Saturday afternoon. Indianapolis will travel to Quincy and Truman State this weekend.
Monica Weiss (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette ) went 5-for-8 this past Monday against Illinois Springfield to raise her average to .377 while
Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) is hitting .349 on the season and hit her first collegiate home run in the first game against the Prairie Stars on Monday afternoon.
Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville) leads the squad with 29 RBIs and
Hannah Franceschini (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) is second on the team with 21 driven in.
Avery English (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) is 9-15 with a 2.67 earned run average and is averaging 4.3 strikeouts per seven innings.
Kati Viets (Sweet Springs, Mo./Sweet Springs) is 9-14 on the season in 25 appearances, has tossed a pair of shutouts and thrown 14 complete games.
Lewis is 24-23, 12-14 on the year and has dropped seven of its last nine contests. The Flyers split with Rockhurst this past Sunday taking the opener 5-3 and falling in the second game 7-1. On Monday, Lewis split at William Jewell taking the opener 4-3 in eight innings before falling in the nightcap 3-2.
Kaylee Prieto leads the Flyers with a .409 batting average while Sarah DeMasi leads the squad with seven home runs and has driven in a team-high 36 runs. Carly Jaworski is second on the team with 31 RBIs.
Dara Sanders leads the pitching staff with a record of 17-8 and has a 2.22 ERA in 31 appearances. She's thrown six shutouts and has 18 complete games. Sanders has struck out 142 batters in 164 innings pitched. Paige Fossey is 3-10 in 20 appearances while Lainie Schweickert is 3-4 in 18 appearances.
Wisconsin-Parkside enters Friday's doubleheader against Drury with a mark of 16-28, 10-14 GLVC. The Rangers went 1-3 this past weekend dropping both games to William Jewell last Sunday and then split with Rockhurst on Monday afternoon.
Carley Dundee powers the offense leading the team in average (.361), home runs (10) and RBIs (37). She also leads the team with 21 walks. Jessica Shields is hitting .348 on the season and has stolen a team-high 19 bases.
Dundee also leads the way in the circle for the Rangers going 11-14 with a 2.96 ERA in 29 appearances. She has thrown 21 complete games and tossed two shutouts. She has struck out 89 batters on the season. Allison Hausl is 4-11 in 21 appearances and Bridget Jost is 1-3 in six appearances.
