Pittsburg, Kan. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped a pair of tight ballgames at Pittsburg State on Tuesday afternoon in Pittsburg, Kan. Monica Weiss (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette ) and Olivia Young (Milstadt, Ill./Belleville Township) led the Lady Miners with two hits apiece in the doubleheader.

Game 1 – Pittsburg State 3, Lady Miners 2
The Gorillas (39-13) took an early lead on Kala Holder's solo home run to left center with two outs in the third. They added to their lead in the fourth inning. With runners at first and third and one out Kristen Van Hoosen stole second and Lawren McKinney came into score on a throwing error by Hannah Franceschini (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central).

Pittsburg State reclaimed its two run cushion with a two out rally in the home half of the sixth. Van Hoosen started the rally with a double to center and scored on Tiara Ewy's single to right. The Gorillas eventually loaded the bases but Avery English (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) got Alicia Lowrey to ground out back to the circle.

S&T scored a run in the seventh on an error by the shortstop which allowed English, running for Ashley Rausch (Washington, Iowa/Washington), to score from first and put the tying run in scoring position. The Lady Miners couldn't get the game tying hit though as Jacey Allen (Roanoke, Texas/Byron Nelson) popped out to short and Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) flew out to left to end the game.
