Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners continues its 10-game homestand this weekend hosting Quincy and Truman State in a pair of doubleheaders at the S&T Softball Field. The Lady Miners (12-17, 4-4 GLVC) and Hawks (10-12, 4-4 GLVC) square off at noon on Saturday and on Sunday S&T will take on the Bulldogs (21-13, 4-4 GLVC).
The Lady Miners started the home stand strong taking three out of four games last weekend by sweeping Bellarmine and splitting with 10
th ranked Southern Indiana. S&T is tied with six teams in the conference standings for fourth place and sit only two games behind Indianapolis, Lewis and Rockhurst who are all tied at 6-2.
As a team, the Lady Miners are hitting .282, are averaging four runs per contest and have hit 12 home runs.
Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) leads the attack with her .382 batting average while
Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville) leads the ball club with five home runs and 19 runs batted in. S&T has six players with at least 10 RBIs.
Avery English (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) and
Kati Viets (Sweet Springs, Mo./Sweet Springs) are each 6-8 in the circle this season and have combined for 113 strikeouts in 179 innings pitched. Viets has won her two last outings allowing just five earned runs in 13 innings pitched. She had five strikeouts in the upset of Southern Indiana on Sunday. English picked up her first shutout of the year last Friday holding Bellarmine to just two hits in the complete game effort.
Quincy went 3-3 last week splitting its doubleheaders with Missouri Baptist, Illinois Springfield and McKendree. The Hawks are hitting .301 as a team, are averaging five runs per game and have hit 12 home runs. Jackie Farbak leads the squad with a .367 average and is one of four players hitting over .300 on the season. Lindsey Greene leads team in home runs (6) and runs batted in (24).
Emily Griskell leads the way in the circle for Quincy with a record of 7-5 and has an earned run average of 3.78. She has tossed seven complete games while striking out 43 batters in 74 innings pitched.
Truman State also split its doubleheaders with McKendree and Illinois Springfield last weekend. The Bulldogs will play at Drury on Saturday before heading up to Rolla for Sunday's contests.
Christa Reisinger, the reigning GLVC Freshman of the Year, leads the 'Dogs with a .518 batting average and has stolen 23 bases in 27 attempts. She is one of five players hitting over .300 in the Truman lineup. Lex Van Nostrand and Alyssa Rivera have hit five home runs each to lead the club while Ashley Murphy leads the squad with 29 runs batted in.
Nicolette Simpson and Lauren Dale are each 10-5 on the season, have combined for four shutouts and 93 strikeouts in 182.2 innings pitched.
