Rolla, Mo. – After two straight weekends on the road the Missouri S&T Lady Miners return home to take on Illinois Springfield and McKendree at Billy Key Court this weekend. The Lady Miners (8-13, 3-10 GLVC) host the Prairie Stars (8-13, 2-11 GLVC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and then face-off with McKendree (10-12, 1-11 GLVC) on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Thursday night's contest will be the "Pink Out" game with everyone encouraged to wear pink to the game. Zeta Tau Alpha will have a booth setup where fans can play a trivia game and earn candy. The purpose of the event is to spread breast cancer education and awareness.
On Saturday, S&T will be hosting Military Appreciation Day at Billy Key Court. Anyone with a military ID active or retired will be admitted free of charge to the games along with immediate family members.
Also on Saturday, the Lady Miners will honor their four seniors between games of the doubleheader against the Bearcats.
S&T looks to snap its three-game losing streak on Thursday night. In their last game, the Lady Miners nearly erased a 25-point deficit cutting it to five with 9:20 left in the fourth quarter but were unable to get closer than as 15
th ranked Bellarmine took a 78-66 victory.
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) led S&T with a career-high 20 points and made a career-high six three-pointers, two shy of the school record.
Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) added 19 points in the contest.
Arand continues to lead the ball club in scoring with 10.6 points a contest while
Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) is dropping home 9.7 a game. Raley leads the ball club in three-point shooting making 42.3 percent of her attempts while
Raetchel Gray (Allen, Okla./Byng ) is shooting 35 percent from downtown.
Katey Brown (Craig, Neb./Guardian Angels Central Catholic) leads the ball club in rebounding with 5.5 per game and
Aricca Daye (Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines East) leads the club with 57 assists.
Illinois Springfield enters Thursday's contest having dropped six straight after a pair of narrow losses at home last weekend to Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville. The Prairie Stars currently sit a game behind the Lady Miners in the standings with both teams fighting to get into the top 12 to make the GLVC Tournament.
UIS is led in scoring by Destiny Ramsey with an average of 13.1 points a game. She is joined in double figures by Syerra Cunningham with 11.6 per contest and Shelbi Patterson is dropping in 10.5 per outing. Cunningham is also the GLVC leader in rebounding with 10.8 a game and is the only player in the league averaging in double figures on the boards.
McKendree enters Thursday's contest at 13
th ranked Drury riding a four-game losing streak after a pair of home losses against Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis this past weekend.
The Bearcats are led in scoring by twins Ellie and Emily Pusheck averaging 8.5 and 7.5 points per game respectively. Jordan Heberg and Shannon McGinnis are each averaging 7.1 points per outing. McGinnis also leads the ball club in rebounding with 6.7 a game while Amber Alexander leads the team with 68 assists.
