Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Softball squad heads up to Chicago this weekend to take part in the third annual Lewis Flyer Dome Invitational held at the Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont, Ill. The Lady Miners (4-5) will play four games this weekend beginning with defending Midwest Regional champion Grand Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
S&T went 2-2 last weekend in St. Louis dropping two games to Maryville 1-0 and 3-1 then defeated Lincoln 9-0 in five innings and Columbia College 4-3.
Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville) led the offense last weekend hitting .444 with a home run and three RBIs.
Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) finished the weekend going 5-for-12 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

Avery English (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) went 1-1 with an earned run average of 0.54 in 13 innings of work. She struck out 12 in two games and didn't issue a walk.
Kati Viets (Sweet Springs, Mo./Sweet Springs) also went 1-1 with an ERA of 1.91 in 11 innings of work with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Grand Valley begins its season on Friday against the Lady Miners and then will take on Illinois Springfield at 8 p.m. After advancing to the College World Series for the third time in program history last year, the Lakers were picked to win the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by one point over Wayne State (Mich.). GVSU defeated the Warriors in last year's Midwest Super Regional Championship series. The Lakers are currently ranked sixth in this week's NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Wayne State is 2-3 on the season heading into Friday's contest against Illinois Springfield at 6 p.m. The Warriors opened their season two weekends ago at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla. They picked up a pair of run rule wins over Catawba and Rollins but dropped contests to 13
th ranked Valdosta State 2-0, Florida Tech 8-0 in five innings and to Eckerd College 5-1 in eight innings.
On Saturday, the Lady Miners will square off against the Walsh Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. The two teams met last year in Chicago with S&T overcoming a five run deficit in the bottom of the seventh and then won 6-5 in eight innings on
Lori Badalamenti (Wentzville, Mo./Timberland )'s walk-off single to left field. The Cavaliers open their 2017 season on Friday against Lindenwood at 11 a.m. and then will take on Lewis at 3:30 p.m.
In their final game of the Tournament the Lady Miners will take on Winona State at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening. The Warriors are 3-1 on the season and have won three straight heading into Friday's games against William Jewell at 1:30 p.m. and Wisconsin-Parkside at 6 p.m. Winona will also take on Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon and conclude the weekend against Wayne State at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.
