Evansville, Ind. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners struggled to contain the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles on the defensive end of the floor in its 99-73 loss at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Ind., on Thursday evening. The Lady Miners (8-12, 3-9 GLVC) shot nearly 50 percent from the floor but allowed USI (19-3, 11-1 GLVC) to shoot 51 percent and couldn't overcome 24 turnovers in the game.

The Screaming Eagles raced out to an early four point lead but S&T hung in there only trailing by one at the midway point of the opening quarter. The Lady Miners were down 12-9 after a layup by Hannah Wascher but then got five straight points from Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) to take its only lead of the game at 14-12 on a three by Greenwood with 2:34 to go in the frame. USI ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to take a six-point lead and wouldn't relinquish it.

The Lady Miners cut the deficit to 47-31 after a bucket by Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) with 0:37 left in the half. USI answered in the closing seconds of the half and then after a turnover hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the Screaming Eagles into the locker room with a 52-31 lead.
