Lady Miners drop 2-0 decision to Panthers

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners outshot the Drury Panthers 15-8 but unfortunately for S&T they were not able to finish on some opportunities in a 2-0 loss on Friday night at Allgood-Bailey Stadium. The Lady Miners outshot the Panthers 11-4 in the second half and had six corner kicks compared to none for Drury.

S&T had some good chances early in the contest but were unable to put anything on goal as they took four of the first five shots of the match. The Panthers (5-5-1, 3-5 GLVC) broke the scoreless draw with a goal in the 33rd minute. After a Lady Miner foul, Gabbe Millot shot in a free kick from about 30 yards out into the upper right hand corner.

The Lady Miners had some great opportunities in the second half. The first came in the 51st minute when Madeline Goeke (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) teed up a shot from long range that banged off the post and out of play. S&T had another chance about five minutes later when Carli Tastad (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) tried to head home a corner kick from Taylor Vollmer (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) but Tina Haberberger made a diving stop to keep the game tied. Tastad had another opportunity in the 69th minute that was saved and then Morgan Sikora (Highland, Ill./Highland) had a chance on the rebound that was blocked.

Madison Morris (Tulsa, Okla./Edison) nearly tied the game with 9:05 but banged her shot from distance off the crossbar.

Drury added an insurance goal with 2:12 to play. After a foul, Millot sent a free kick from the end line across the box where Rylee Hanes (Ladera Ranch, Calif./San Juan Hills) tried to snare it but it hit off her hands and fell to Kerri Morris who shot it in from 12 yards out.

S&T (0-11, 0-9 GLVC) continues its three match homestand next Friday taking on Maryville at 5 p.m.
