Lebanon, Ill. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team dropped a hard fought overtime match at McKendree 1-0 on Friday evening in Lebanon, Ill.
Carli Tastad (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) led S&T with three shots while
Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) added two.
McKendree (10-1-3, 7-1-3 GLVC) dominated the 15 first minutes of the contest outshooting S&T (1-10-1, 1-9-1 GLVC) 7-1 and put four of those shots on goal but
Liz Carrano (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) stopped all four shots to keep the Bearcats off the scoreboard. Over the final 30 minutes of the half the Lady Miners outshot McKendree 5-1 but were unable to put any shots on frame.
The Bearcats dominated the second half outshooting S&T 12-1 but Carrano continued to stand tall in goal stopping all eight shots on goal to keep the game scoreless and send it to overtime.
The Lady Miners had a couple of chances in overtime but had their shots blocked. McKendree scored the game winning goal with 0:10 left in the first overtime off a scramble in front of the net. Alynnah O'Leary scored her fifth of the season off an assist from Kate Bixby.
The Bearcats finished the contest with a 26-10 advantage in shots and put 17 of those on goal. Carrano finished with a career-high 16 saves for S&T.
The Lady Miners play their final road match of the season on Sunday at Southern Indiana beginning at 12 p.m.
