Evansville, Ind. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Southern Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
Taylor Vollmer (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) and
Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) had a shot each for S&T.
The Screaming Eagles (8-4-4, 6-3-4 GLVC) struck first in the 22
nd minute on a goal from Taylor McCormick. She scored off a rebound on a corner kick putting it into the top of the net.
USI added to its lead 0:40 into the second half on a penalty kick from Olivia Wilde.
The Lady Miners got a goal back in the 70
th minute scoring on an own goal.
Chayse Richardson (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) threw it into the middle of penalty box and during the scrum the ball got knocked in by a USI player.
The Screaming Eagles regained their two goal lead 1:20 later when Madelyne Juenger scored off a free kick from the top of the box that rolled into the lower right corner of the goal.
USI finished the contest with a 14-2 advantage in shots and 6-1 in shots on goal.
S&T (1-13-1, 1-11-1 GLVC) concludes the regular season on Wednesday hosting Wisconsin-Parkside at 1 p.m.
