S&T begins four-game road swing on Thursday

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners enter the second half of Great Lakes Valley Conference action with a four game road trip beginning this Thursday evening at Quincy at 5:15 p.m. The road trip continues on Saturday as S&T (7-10, 2-7 GLVC) heads to Kirksville, Mo., to take on Truman State at 1 p.m. The Lady Miners will play six of their final nine games of the regular season away from home.

S&T goes for second straight victory when it takes on the Lady Hawks at Pepsi Arena. The Lady Miners used a fast start outscoring William Jewell 21-8 in the first quarter in their last game snapping a seven-game losing streak in the process. S&T shot 60 percent from the field in the opening quarter and was paced by Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) who scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the frame. Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) added 13 points in the win while Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) finished with nine including a couple of big three's down the stretch halting a Cardinal rally.

Arand is averaging 9.9 points per game this season, while Greenwood is scoring 9.1 a game and Raetchel Gray (Allen, Okla./Byng ) is at 8.2 a contest. Katey Brown (Craig, Neb./Guardian Angels Central Catholic) leads the team in rebounding with 5.8 rebounds per game while Aricca Daye (Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines East) has a team-high 52 assists.

ABOUT QUINCY: Quincy enters Thursday's contest having dropped five straight, eight of its last 10 and have a record of 4-15 overall and are 1-7 in the GLVC. Last weekend the Lady Hawks dropped a pair of games in St. Louis to Missouri-St. Louis 57-47 and Maryville 59-51.

Nikia Edom leads the team in scoring with an average of 10.9 points per game but her scoring average has dropped to 7.8 points a game in league play. Anika Webster is second on the club with 10.8 a contest and leads the team in rebounding with 4.8 per game. Selina Barnes leads the team with 39 assists.

ABOUT TRUMAN STATE: The Bulldogs dropped their first two games to begin GLVC play, then won three in a row but have dropped three of their last four contests. Last weekend the 'Dogs split a pair of road games defeating Maryville 69-54 then fell to Missouri-St. Louis 67-58. They enter Thursday's matchup against 12th ranked Drury with a record of 9-9 overall and are 4-5 in the GLVC.

Cassidy Clark leads the team in scoring and rebounding with an average of 15.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. In conference play she's upped her scoring to nearly 17 points a game and is averaging close to 7.5 rebounds a contest.

Rachel Edmundson is second on the club dropping in 11.6 a contest while Ashley Hartwig is contributing 10.2 points a game. Brooke Bailey and Sloane Totta share the team lead in assists with 45. Clark also leads the team in blocked shots with 20 and steals (30).
