Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri-St. Louis Tritons scored a goal with 8:07 left in regulation to hand the Missouri S&T Lady Miners a 2-1 defeat on Friday evening at the S&T Soccer Field. The Tritons (5-2, 5-2 GLVC) held a 15-13 edge in shots and 10-5 in shots on goal.

UMSL scored the game's first goal in the 42nd minute on a penalty kick from Sarah Lyon after a Triton was pulled down in the box trying to score on a loose ball. The Lady Miners (1-6, 1-5 GLVC) evened the 1:08 later when Andrea Aller (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley ) headed home a corner kick from Taylor Vollmer (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) for her first goal of the season.

The Lady Miners had a golden opportunity about midway through the second half when Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) got behind the defense and tried to beat the keeper inside the right post but McKenzie DeRouen made a diving save to knock it out for a corner kick.

The Tritons broke the tie with a goal in the 82nd minute when Lyon picked off a pass near midfield and played it ahead to Taylor Tosovsky who shot it from 25 yards out through traffic inside the right post.

S&T had a chance with the clock winding down getting a corner kick in the final minute of play but were unable to put anything on goal.

The Lady Miners outshot UMSL 7-6 in the second half but the Tritons had a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. S&T finished the contest with a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
